So, over the last couple of weeks I really have come to realise women’s role in our society and the generations before us and it has made me question why women are treated so badly.
Over the last year, UK statistics have shown that around 44% of all UK women  have experienced either physical or sexual violence since they were 15 years old. Around 14 million girls in the UK have been married – some as young as 8 years old. 80% of 1.2 million girls were trafficked into slavery. Only 76 countries have legislation that specifically address domestic violence. Only 24% of senior management roles in working environments are filled by women and with gaps in pay, the gender gap is still a problem. Some of these facts are extremely shocking given that women provide the foundation for living.
The quote from the Guru Granth Sahib Ji above,  can  be applied to every Individuals way of thinking:

‘From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married.  Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come.  When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound.  So why call her bad? From her, kings are born.  From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all.’
Guru Nanak, Raag Aasaa Mehal 1, Page 473.

I personally consider it hard to comprehend why women are treated inferior to men. They are able to have children so that generations can keep living on, they can educate to a high standard and work and run their own businesses. They have the ability to provide for their families. So many women can do everything that men can do… so why do men think they have so much power?

I believe that women should continue fighting and working hard for the rights they have. Women should not have to suffer any kind of abuse. Women should be given the rights to education and work. The world needs women to sustain life and eventually women will live in equal power of the world.

Women should never lose determination.
